If the clutch were slipping, the tach would indicate a engine RPM rise instead of a drop.
It sounds like you either have an ignition module problem or the hall effect connector on the distributor is loose. After a decade or so, the plastic tends to get brittle and crack.
You may also want to check the front motor mount to see whether it's excessively worn, allowing the front of the engine to rise and put tension on the hall effect sensor cable. This would stop the signal to the EZK box and make the tach drop.
The hall effect sensor connector is more of a problem with Turbos, but not unheard of in normally-aspirated C900s.
Even there's no direct connection to your symptoms, how old are the spark plugs and wires?
