I would check your crank pully(harmonic balancer).mark it with chaulk or white out, start it, shut off and see if the marks line up.
If its bad, it won't last long in cold weather.
mine was making noise for about 2 weeks ,the temp here in Pa dropped last week into single digs. mine went last week.
hope it is your pump, but check to make sure.
I lucked out, no damage to oil pump cover.
