Power steering fluid leak

I have a '91 900C with 83K miles that I bought for $1,000 last fall. Over the last month, I have noticed a small leak of power steering fluid (noticed by my weekly check of all fluids). While my car was at my mechanic (not a SAAB dealer, since any visit to the dealer facility will cost more than I paid for the car) for its annual state inspection, I asked them to check on the cause of the power steering fluid leak. The reply was "power steering Reservoir and feed hose leaking". The quote for fixing it was $245. A bottle of power steering fluid at Advance Auto is only $1.27, and it lasts me about a month. Refilling the reservoir at $1.27 will take 192.92 months or about 16 years to total $245.
Is there any reason, other than I might forget to check the reservoir every week to have the work done? Is $245 way out of the ballpark to get this work done at a reasonable price?
Thanks in advance for any help
