Cleaned AIC valve, RPMs different

I've had an RPM-hunting issue for almost 7 years now. RPMs hunt when car is idling, whether hot or cold. Doesn't do it all the time, maybe about half the time. I took off the AIC and cleaned it carb cleaner, sprayed it with WD-40, and tested the resistance between the pins. I have the 2-pin model found on the '88 900S. Not many of them use this model.
Anyway, I found it slightly difficult to turn the spring-loaded wheel on the inside (used a pencil eraser), but was able to do it with some effort. Also, there are no clamps holding the hoses onto the AIC valve. I didn't see any in the diagram in Bentley, but someone mentioned that there were clamps there.
Anyway, after re-installing, there is a bit of a difference in the RPM behaviour. First, startups go much smoother, meaning that there is less hunting going on at that time. Once it's warmed up, the hunting still occurs, but it seems like the range is less and the hunting is faster. I can look at vacuum hoses, but somehow I feel like that's not the issue.
Anyone else ever experience this? Anyone know what an after-market AIC valve costs?
-Hans.
