as a diagnostic technique and ineffective to boot.
Don't jump to the conclusion that you need a $100+ AIC valve. I was having exactly the same symtoms as you report and was coming to the conclusion that it was the AIC. I have a second 900 that did not have the problem, swapped AIC's and the problems stayed with the car.
I then went back and tested more carefully for vacuum leaks. When I pulled every vacuum hose out and plugged up all the ports the idle went to normal. I concluded that I had multiple leaks and that when I had tested earlier I had checked only one component at a time, leaving the other leak open. Leaking injector seals are a possibility which the above technique will not indentify. Unignited propane should be good for that.
Plan to get a vacuum gauge. They are cheap. But I need to replace my brake booster first.
Consider getting the fuel injection book by Charles Probst. I found it very helpful to have the theory in my head.
