The big question is how is your tranny behaving and what's the mileage on your car?
Reason I'm asking is that I recently bought a '91 900S auto. Trany was slipping some in 2nd. Type F fliud (the specified fluid) is unusual outside of old Fords (from what I'm told) and I had a feeling that perhaps someone may have poured Dextron/Mercron in it in the past. Pulled the tranny plug, refreshed with 4 qts Type F and got a lot of the slippage (BUT NOT ALL) taken care of. For $180, I had my mechanic pull the pans, clean the filter screen, adjust the bands, and now it drives like a brand new transmission.
Just my experience. If you experienceing slipage and have hi mileage (mine was 90K) it may pay to do the whole job or pay someone to do so.
