I purchased a pair of ScanTech arms this past summer. First, they are dimensionally identical to the originals. Second, the welds appear to be of the same quality as the originals. Third, the OEM supplier, I am told anyway, is Lemforder (sp?) in Germany, which makes all sorts of parts for such makes as Mercedes et al. Lemforder replacements cost more than double the ScanTechs. Fourth, the ScanTechs are made in Korea, which, to some people anyway, is a bit off-putting. However, Saab a-arms are quite simple; we're not talking about fine precision fabricating & welding here.
Now, having said all this, understand how ScanTech does business: they find the cheapest supplier/manufacturer in the world to produce whatever parts they need. Problem can be with quality control. I was just told a horror today by a Saab shop owner about having rubber timing chain components disintegrating in less than 4000 miles.
So, to me, some stuff from ScanTech is fine. I don't have a problem with the a-arms and the ScanTech heater control valve in my car seems to be holding up. But I wouldn't necessarily by stuff from them unless I first have a pretty good idea about the quality, complexity, and consequences of failure of the part.
