pedals going mushy or too far down all at once are usually caused by air entering the system.. air is compressible so any air in with the none compressible fluid with cause a spongy pedal..

how does air get in.. mostly when the fluid level in the resevoir tank gets right down to the bottom.. when the master cylinder is fully returned ie.. pedal fully up.. a small hole is exposed between piston and resevoir.. this is supposed to keep things topped up with fluid.. but if the tank is empty it lets air in instead of fluid and the pedal goes mushy..the more air the mushier it gets.. this applies to brakes or clutch.. the basic working principles are the same..

normal pad wear causes the fluid level to drop gradually as the pistons in the brake calipers move out.. if it drops far enough air will get in.. a leak somewhere will cause the fluid level to drop.. again if it drops low enough air will get in..

master cylinder pistons or bores can wear and cause the pedal to go lower than it should also..thow this dosnt tend to be as mushy.. slave cylinders mostly leak thow..

its all pretty simple... there us nothing over complicated about how the clutch hydraulics work..

the sqeal is clutch related but not hydraulics.. the drop in oil pressure is something else.. in fact dont worry about minor variations in oil pressure readings..

your clutch sounds like it needs a general overhaul thow..

imagine a bike pump full of fluid.. the master cylinder.. connect this to another bike pump thats empty.. the slave cylinder.. as u push the one full of fluid in.. the other one gets pushed out.. the other one works your clutch springs and disengages the clutch.. as u take pressure of the first one the clutch springs shove the whole lot back and in a sense the slave cylinder becomes the "master"..

the last bit is for anybody who dosnt have the vaguest idea of how things work.. no expert piss-takes please.. he he

u can also see why most cars now use a simple cable to work the clutch.. and have replaced all this expensive and hard to fix hydraulic crap..
