Here are some things to look for, without the component parts of a watch.
Check for leaks at slave cylinder or flex portion of the feed hose near slave. If the slave is leaking, you will eventually see drips out of the flywheel inspection hole. The clutch and brake systems share the same resevoir, but it is partitioned to prevent cross failures. Take a look in the resevoir and if you have a significant leak, the chamber closest to the fender will eventually be lower than the divider. If the slave is the problem, might as well replace the whole clutch assembly. You might have a throwout bearing that is getting sloppy(funny noise).
It may be failed seals or a pitted bore in the master cylinder. No leak and no air in the system, just the master piston failing to produce consistent pressure. This is really a good diy project, if inclined.
