but i cant imagine anyone breaking three on camshaft sprocket nuts.. i cant even imagine anyone useing an over size breaker bar on camshaft nuts with much success either..

yes any thing is breakable if enough force is applied.. but comments along the lines of "even an open ended wrench slipped" as if it wouldnt.. dont break a deal of sense and neither do i have broken three sockets either.. he he he

come on russ has some crap tools.. he he he.. not his open ended wrench thow.. they are bounnd to open up if too much force is applied.. if a nut is that tight its busting even crap sockets.. putting an open ended wrench on it aint gonna do much good now is it..

i have busted sockets and many other tools thru abuse.. but never the smaller good quality sockets except by hammering.. normally the bar would bend or twist long before the socket breaks..

and the reason i dont have to use torque wrenches for everything is simple.. i know how tight to tighten things without one.. something the guy who fitted russes camshaft never did.. he he he

russ needs to buy some decent tools.. u really would have to be some kind of man-mountian idiot to bust three "decent" sockets..

cheap sockets can be too hard which is why they break as they do sometimes.. thow the smaller ones are usually okay..

mind u praps pussy foot americans need longer (how about three foot) torque wrenches.. that could explain why u appear to bust so many sockets.. he he he.. how long is one of your open ended wrenches.. ????.. twice as long as an english spanner.. he he he

how big are the nuts that hold a sixteen valve camshaft sprocket on by the way.. my eight valve ones were quite small and came undone very easily with a small normal lengh ring spanner.. about eight inches long i would guess.. they also went back on with the same spanner.. a couple of gentle taps with the heel of my hand on the spanner got got em off and put em back..

and russel if u really cant get the sprocket off and there aint room to do what u suggest.. as last resort u could always use a chain splitter and split the chain... there are ways around most things.. for us english that is.. he he he

also russ if u put your bar on the nut apply some force than whack the socket bar with a hammer on the socket head it should do pretty much the same as any impact tool..
