What you're describing sounds normal.
To get to the underlying concern - I don't know if there's a single _definitive_ test for a weeping or blown HG. Folks sometimes start out w/a cyl comp ck, then progress to a leak-down test. An oil analysis can _sometimes_ be conclusive
AFAIK, the best choice would be using a gas analyzer, w/the probe either in the coolant expansion tank, or in the exhaust, checking for cross-contamination. Ck around for a mech shop that has one - cost should be reasonable, and always good to catch a failing HG early, if that's the case or concern.
There's also reference to something called a "Block Tester" - not really sure what that is - if it tests pressure somehow, or if it's a specific non-harmful chemical that's added to the coolant, w/a certain color change indicating the presence of exhaust products
You might also opt to replace the HG as a preventative step - parts are very reasonable
