Sometimes you can get them to bleed by pumping, but it sounds like you accidently sucked in some air at the slave.
If you don't want to wait for a pressure bleeder in the mail, make one out of a bicycle innertube. Cut about 6 inches from valve and use a hose clamp to fasten the short end around resevoir. Seal the other end a bout two feet from the valve...tie in knots or clamp hose between two sticks with a hose clamp. Use a bike pump to blow up tube to about 10-15 psi. Open the slave valve and the the whole system will bleed. Don't run dry in the resevoir or you get to start over.
You can also reverse bleed by attaching a long tube to the slave. Stick a funnel into open end of the tube and fill with fluid. If you keep the level of the fluid in the funnel above the resevoir the clutch will bleed itself out the resevoir. I personally think that this takes more time and the time I tried it, I had trouble keeping a tight seal at the slave. Some swear by it though.
