re engine stands, the engine is around 300 lbs according to the Haynes manual, however i don't know if that includes the tranny. there is no weight spec for the tranny as far as i can see.
i've been told you can manhandle a block/pistons/crank on a bench if needed. You may need a custom bracket to mount the block on a standard engine stand (i just bought one myself and hopefully will be able to use it!). I would appreciate any other person's help too.
