I have a 1990 900T Automatic four door with 80,000 miles on it and for the past couple months I have been contemplating selling it for a 900C with a manual transmission in either N/A or turbo form. While there is nothing at all wrong with my 900T, I have recently learned to drive a stick and am really itching to get one. Well I have found a 1986 900 base 8-valve with 85,000 miles from a local used shop that specializes in used classic Saabs and the guy is asking $2,900 for it but is willing to trade even for my car. My questions are: Is the 8 valve as reliable as the 16V?
Even though my Saab is an auto, would I be giving up alot in performance as compared to, say a five speed with a 16V? And lastly are there any issues to be aware of with this particular model and year before I consider doing this? Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance to those who respond.
