I'm no expert, but i don't know why you would think the alternator, doesn't seem like the most likely culprit to me.
I had a similar situation years ago and lived with it b/c i didn't want to know how much it would cost to fix (i would put the car in neutral as i was stopping and hit the gas a little to prevent from dying). Eventually took it in due to a different problem and asked mechanic to take a look at the stalling as well.
Turns out just a little dirt around the cable near the TPS, that was creating an incorrect fuel/air mixture and causing me to stall. Fix was just cleaning the dirt around the area where the cable emerges from its sheath. Not the most common fix to a stalling problem, but thought i'd mention it as it's at least worth a look.
