The 8.5 Magnecor wire sets will not perform any better than the factory Bougicord wire sets on OEM SAAB ignition systems. In most cases, the resistance is high on the 8.5mm wires which renders ignition miss with a .024-.028 plug gap. Although we carry the 8.5mm wire sets, they are reserved for those customers who employ high output ignition systems (SDS, Haltech, etc.) where EMI reduction is critical.
For street applications that retain factory ignition systems, we only recommend the 8mm wire sets. The 8mm will provide superior spark energy through a lower resistance and will also protect against EMI.
ES spark plugs may create a more progressive spark with it's broad electrode but they will require more frequent service (re-gap and/or replacement) over the EV electrode plugs. We find the EV to provide less fouling and better idle and start-up properties but less progression of spark relative to boosted and/or full load conditions.
Best of luck with your 900!
Regards,
GSK @ SWEDISH DYNAMICS, INC.
