Head gasket blown?

I think I may have blown my head gasket. *sigh* Funny thing was that I was going to take my car in to my mechanic to have my major service done in the morning. It's recently started missing.
It's a 92 900 Turbo. I came around a corner and accelerated mildly and then it started missing BADLY and bogging almost as if one of the plug wires had come undone. I was a few blocks from my house and did the wrong thing by trying to make it home. The car stopped responding to the throttle and I watched my tach steadily creep to 0. I coasted to a stop in front of my house, but there was a wicked smell coming from under the hood. Then the smoke started. I really thought the car was gonna go up in flames, but didn't see anything but smoke. It seemed to be coming from the underside of the engine towards the rear - almost from the exhaust area on the passenger side. I've never smelled anything like this coming from a car, and to be honest it scared the hell out of me. The smell seemed to be somewhat of an oil smell with a strong electrical burning odor.
The electrical system on the car seems fine, but the car will not start. It turns over and makes no odd noises like a dropped valve would, but none of the pistons even think about firing.
Anyone have any idea what the problem could be? Or even worse, how much it might set me back for the repair? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
