Left of glove box- safe to drill (for MP3 player)??

I'm pumped- I just got my AUX-in adapter for my MP3 player. The cord is only 8" long and I was think about mounting it in the glove box (out of sight and all).
For now I may just hang it down near the knee panel.
I would need to drill a hole for the cable. For as much as I've been behind the dash, I can't recall what lies exactly next to the glove box- of course I'll take the obvious precautions with wires, etc...
TIA- Steve
PS- an update on my MP3 palyer search- I went with Archos FM Recorder, 20GB. Cost me $250- and for that, I could buy two players (compared to price of an iPod). Small screen and a user interface that takes some getting used are hits. It does have some pluses- 110mW out put makes full size head phones sound like they are hooked up to 'full' stereo, voice recorder, seperate line out and in, and best of all- direct record capable... meaning... no computer required. You can hook this up to any thing that had a USB or AV out put and record into MP3, WAV or a couple of other formats. Same goes for FM- just hit record! And the FM tuner in this seems better than my car!
