Nope, I looked at an '87 740 and an '88 240. Both had a 3-speed
transmission plus overdrive (making 4 gears), where the overdrive
was controlled by a button on the gear shift. OTOH, I just found
a 240 sedan for sale for $2000 with a 5-speed manual box, and it's
in better mechanical shape than the 240 wagon, so I might get my
stick shift afterall (plus I could prob. talk the price down to $1500)
I've heard that some older 7xx volvos were fitted with a _ZF_ 4-speed
gearbox - that transmission had a PRND321 quadrant with no overdrive
button and it is supposedly prone to spontaneous self-destruction.
