not too difficult. inspect the clamps first: if they are in pretty good shape - not too corroded - then have a cutting wheel handy. if in worse condition, have a grinder of some sort or a saw. may want to just cut the whole exhaust off if in bad shape.
use only good quality european clamps that fully encircle the pipe and constrict evenly all the way around. do not use cheap u-shaped bolts - they are junk.
have some blocks of wood handy to support the muffler/piping while you're working; helps when bolting stuff up. also have some anti-seize for the clamp bolts.
if your muffler is rotted, my guess is that your midpipe is on its way out, too. you will likely be able to press a thumbnail through the seam on the pipe. new one is ~$20; may as well buy one. also inspect the rear pipe; mine (no salt, ~120k miles) was still in good condition so i re-used it.
