What kind of square gasket did you use between turbo Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Is turbo's impeller supposed to wobble around?, Dinger, Fri, 23 May 2003 06:48:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
and exhaust manifold?
If you use the thick aftermarket gasket, it's a BIG chance that the turbo go right after a head job. Have happened a couple of times before I stopped using the thick gaskets.
The turbo impellar have been spinning in its setting for a long time, suddenly the whole turbo housing gets tweaked to a new form and shape because of this thick gasket that collapses in different ways depending on how hard or uneven the 4 bolts are torqued. And the turbo bearing fails shortly after.
The Saab oem gasket is a thin sheet metal gasket that doesn't deform when torque is applied.
