Well Memorial day weekend started with a BANG literally. On Friday morning on my way to work my gearbox gave up the ghost. This did not come as any kind of suprise since the P.O. told me that it had been rebuilt 2 or 3 times since he owned it. Guess the guys down in Florida don't know much about Saab's.

However the next thing really got me pissed off. The tow company comes along and hooks up my car and we start towing it off to Jeff's shop which was about 7 miles away. Half way there after stoping on an off camber incline the car decides to hop out of the tow arms.

Arghhhhhhhh.......

So my less than 1 year old new out of the box front AirFLow bumper now has a 9 inch crack in it. Son of a b****

And upon putting the car back on the ground they curb my right front rim which was just re-finished last summer........SH*T

So now that there insurance is rolling we'll see what they come up with. The fact that both the bumper and the rim are irreplaceable and that it was due to negliegence on the tow companys part we will see how they compensate me.

Now back to the tranny, Saturday morning I go to Jeff's shop and start the fun job of removing the wheel, bumper, and all the other parts to get ready for engine/tranny removal.

Well well, look at this. The powering steering pump is missing the tensioner bolt, and the other one has half rattled off. Glad none of this came apart last weekend when I was down in Carlisle. So after a few good hours we yank out the engine/tranny and get down to seperating the two.

I know after going thru a bunch of things on this car that a lot of bolts and screws are mismatched, however the tranny was a laugh. A mixture of 12 and 13mm bolts ontop of the fact that they were little more than hand tight. The tranny self destructing is a blessing in disguise, since we'll be able to go through the entire car and sort everything out. But what timing, I now have 3 weekends to get everything done and back together before the NESA Saab Owners Gathering in June. Can you say no pressure......

Hope I can get the bumper and wheel fixed in time.

Feel a little better after that vent.
