some cars have a lifting eyelet bolted to the alternator somehow. mine didn't. we had the head off and i bought some chain and ran head bolts thru the chain with a deep socket to keep the chain close to the head (and not slip over the bolt head), then connected the hoist to the chain.
without the eyelets the engine won't come out very level. be careful that it does not shift suddenly and catch a brake line on the firewall or slam into the radiator.
we forgot to unhook the exhaust bracket , but luckily the bracket broke before the header pipe or connection did.
we've pulled two engines so i may also be able to answer a question or two about pulling these engines. my email is wayne.sorensen@investorsgroup.com
