The reference measurement from the center of the rotational axis of the differential to the face of the pinion gear is 60.000 mm. +11 means 60.000 mm + 0.11 mm, i.e. 60.110 mm. This means that this gearset was found to run the quietest when set 0.11 mm lower than the design setpoint. As you are measuring from the edge of the bearing cap seat, yours should be 15.00 + 0.11 = 15.11. I agree with your numbers (sorry, I needed to work it through on paper myself!). Your experience is why I always set up from scratch. I would shim it as you describe. Tough to go wrong doing it right. I would buy new shims for the stack height too as the beat up ones are not worth the risk. Go with a single 0.4 mm shim (0.016") instead of 0.020 as it's better to err too loose here than too tight (i.e. set it to the high end of the spec. But shim the pinion and re-measure the stack height before selecting those shims. Theory doesn't always hold up, especially with the errors likely in your measurements. That pinion measurement I find to be a bear the way you are doing it. Any port in a storm, though.
