1979-1993 & 94 Conv [Subscribe to Daily Digest] |
After a long period of working on the Convertible it's now ready. But still whitout an engine, can't find a Turbo engine suitable for the Convertible.
I renewed all suspension bushes, shocks, brake parts that where worn out, new tieres, new rims (Aero of course), two small points with rust (only surface rust).
Polished the paint, fitted a new hood, refurbished the whole interior (leather and wood) and made all electric stuff working. Changed the front wind screen (had some scratches).
Cleaned all carpets, plastic and refurbished the exterior plastic parts. Changed all 'sparkling' parts (chrome, as far a Saab has chrome).
Painted the engine bay, fitted a new radiator.
As the 1986 Conv. has now drivetrain I'll need a new motor. Searched around and found nothing suitable.
(I wouldn't fit a 256,000km engine in that car, wouldn't you?)
And I was told that the conversion from manual to automatic would be very stressfull and which a lot work to do. And expensive.
So I will sell the Convertible to a person who will be happy with a manual Conv..
Can anybody tell me a price or give me a guide for a 1986 Convertible in near spotless condition - BUT without engine/gearbox?
Car is dark blue with tan interior, 89,000kms on the clock, two owner from new, history. LHD. Drivetrain missing due to accident years ago. Engie was sent to a workshop and got there lost.
Purchased the Conv. without engine.
Or should I go for a brand new engine from Saab (if still available)?
Would be very costly I suppose.
I'm a bit desperate, can't use the Conv. in the bright sun and beautiful weather outside.
