Just loosen the wheel lugnuts, jack up the car, remove the wheel, and you have good access to the caliper. If there is no tension in the e-brake, then you should be able to just pull the cable off the caliper arm with your bare hand.
I had just the Saab toolkit wrench with me at the time; took some beating on but the lever eventually went free. Obviously, don't use your e-brake until you've got the problem fixed, else you'll find yourself in the same situation again soon! :-(
