If your current caliper is in good shape, you can always pick parts out of it to correct any minor defects in a debuilt one. Major defects (such as a corroded piston or a leak) and you could send it back. 'course there's major inconvenience if that happens.
My worst experience with Saab front brakes involved one debuilt caliper, one broken caliper (as in battle damage), and one otherwise OK unit. I obtained a seal kit, and among the three sets I was able to optimize the system into two excellent units.
In your case, the problem is the caliper housing itself. THIS IS A NON CRITICAL component in terms of the caliper's function. All it requirers is that the groove where the piston seals sit be reasonably intact. The critical components are the seals and the piston /parking brake assemblies. Since those are working fine for you, I don't see a problem with purchasing debuild units, so long as you are willing and able to optimize the pile of parts. The debuilt units should be clean and rust free, have new seals and known-good pistons.
