Definitely replace the slave for the reasons that Stephen mentions.

If the system hasn't been flushed in living memory, you may want to seriously consider rebuilding or replacing the master cylinder. My experience on this is that, when you put new, clean fluid through an old master cylinder, you will start to get some leakdown because the crud (highly technical term ;-) that fills gaps between the rubber seals and the cylinder walls washes away with the new fluid.

One thing that I found with old master cylinders is that the rear part of the cylinder wears a lot more than the front part. The rear part has a second seal and a shoulder of steel that can wear on the cylinder. The wear on the rear of the cylinder can let some air into the system. And, if there's a lot of crud in the space between the 2 seals, you may not be able to pressure bleed the clutch hydraulics after a while. This was my experience with my '89 SPG last month when the clutch barely worked.

The upside to doing the whole thing at once is that it's done all at once and you only need to bleed once. Get LOTS of brake fluid, BTW. It took 2 small bottles for me to get all of the air out with the new MC.

The downside is that the crickets will be chirping and the fireflies will be blinking when you're done with it all (for a first time DIYer, that is.)
