Greetings all,
I have an 87 900s with those accursed electric seatbelts. I have just repaired the p-side shoulder strap magazine, and it appears to be fine. The solenoid can be heard doing it's thing, the retractor is working (albeit SLOWER now that I've cleaned the track & guides: nope, wasn't lubrication, but years of ugh.)
The problem is that the seatbelt light continues to blink.
More obfuscation:
The p-seat has a weird little "detector" under it, that is, I assume, used to notice a butt in the seat. This was left dangling when I found it, so probably has not worked for years. If I reinstall it, I notice a detectable hesitation to "release" the shoulder strap (The mouse driving FORWARD in it's track) when the door opens. If I am not mistaken, with this sensor apparently functioning, the mouse races forward when you shut off the power. With the sensor dangling, the mouse will not move until the passenger's door opens. (Take that last with a grain of salt...)
So here are my questions:
Do I need to "clear the fault" from the Passive Restrain ECU? How? (A sledgehammer would be preferred, if could reasonably retrofit the old system, but....)
I'm only 90% sure I've restored all the fiddly bits in the magazine to perfect operating specs. Ok ok ok, look, I think I've got more than HALF of them right!!! Seriously, given a moderatly good chance that it's right, what would you check next?
