I, uh, respectfully beg to differ.
But if this justifies the Blaupunkt, then Oh yeah, it's deader than a smelt.*
But really, let's think here: It's dead, but it still has the wherewithal to light up a rational display ("1138" instead of "@#$$@ FM db #$@5653"), AND beep in a pattern? Occam's razor might have a thing or two to say here.
I have absolutely NONE of my 9000's radio-records here, But my 87 900s has a Clarion system: It says
"To Key In Your Electronic Lock Out Code:
Turn on the ignition.
Depress power button once.
Depress Dynami Noise Reduction (DNR) button, and keep it depressed throughout the key-in procedure.
Key in your code numbers. After the last digit is entered, release the DNR button, and the unit will operate.
My code is 6 digits long, if that helps. (Radio 02 73 409)
It would seem that this happens every time the radio's disconnected from a fixed +12v input, as they mention removing the radio and locking it in the trunk, then using this procedure to relight it.
No doubt there's a way for the dealer (or a Clarion service person) to locate the old code. Might cost ya, but less than the Blaupunkt.
But wait, this may not be the news you wanted.
Actually, it's dead. Really dead. ;)
