SPG with RED APC goes PDQ??

What year SPG got the red APC box, anyone know for sure? I'm sure so many of them have been retrofitted that the true year is lost to history.
My '89 SPG has a black APC box. The sales brochure lists '89 Turbo as 160hp, and SPG as 165hp. What inna heck gives the 5hp increase? Exhaust?
This car has doorjam sticker says built 8/88, also very low VIN, so I assume it is a very early '89.
When only the red APC is fitted, what is the expected hp? To get to the 185 hp of the Commemorative cars, what other pieces required? I found my '89 in such superb original condition that I intend keeping it as close to stock as possible, but a mild tweak to 185hp would be attractive. Do these mild improvements improve mid-range response or torque, or are they strictly felt at the redline and fullboost? Thanks Friends.
