That sure sounds like a bad AMM or bad NTC sensor to me Posted by RS [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Swapped ECM, now what?, 89 spg, Fri, 20 Jun 2003 17:48:54 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Once a timer in the ECU dounts down to the time that it should be receiving a reliable O2 sensor signal, it uses that to run the engine. That's why it runs very badly for a while when it's first started then straightens out.
If you just got a rebuilt AMM, turn it back in and get another.
The NTC sensor could be bad, and giving the ECU some bad info on coolant temps. Check the resistances at various temperatures.

>-- turned off car for 1/2 hour, came back and it would barely idle. I poked around under the hood looking for something obvious and found nothing. unplugging Air Mass meter did nothing. ****Suddenly, the idle smoothed out and the car ran fine for another half hour.**** Check engine light extingished
