Might be the synchro is a little weak. Have you tried redline MTL or Honda MTF, both synthetics that make shifting easier. Makes a big difference.
If you also get a crunch in reverse unless you first shift briefly into another gear, i would suspect a bad pilot bearing in the flywheel or a rusty clutch shaft. When you feel like changing your clutch, be sure to put in a new pilot bearing and grease the clutch shaft splines with high temp synth grease or anti-seize.
