Several weeks ago I aquired a late 1980's saab TC 5spd. The car is in very good shape. Lots of new parts, runs excellent. For some reason, I have been caught up in this "detailing phase". Everyday I am cleaining or detialing the car in some way. Whether it's Q-tips to the dash or center console, touch up around the exterior, seat and carpet care, or anything. I have spent about 50 bucks in just cleaning stuff in just a week. Every little ding, scuff, scrath, tear, stain, I want to fix. I am obsessed. Is this normal with these cars, I know that most people feel this way everytime they pick up a used car, but usually wears off the first week or so. I am wanted this car just as good running, decent weekend driver. I wasn't looking for something prestine, but now I find my self wanting the car to be just that. Mechanically, it is sound. It's the cosmemtic part that I am obsessed with. trying to lessen the apperence of it's 14+ years What turned into gettingjust the hood painted (oxidation spot) is turning into having the entire car painted. How do I control this urge to make this car perfect. I have read over and over again that you should expect to spend money on machanical stuff for used saabs over a period of time. I should be keeping that in mind, and not be worry as much about exterior.
knock on wood, nothing machnical is pending and the car has less then 90K.
