Seems rather normal to me. A new car in your life and all. I bought a mechanically sound, but physically abused 82 900 4 door in 95 and did almost nothing to it for the nearly 5 years I owned it. It was only when things like the wheel bearings, clutch disc and master cylinders began failing within a 6 month span that I had to pick up my tools and start fixing things. Then I discovered the wonders of the used car parts yards near me for odds and ends replacement parts. Then I replaced that n/a 82 with a Turbo 4 door of the same year and that's when the "fun" really began. I essentially combined the two cars into one, taking the best of the n/a 900 and transplanting it over to the turbo, then said goodbye to 900 #1. Then considering how many 80's SAAB's that have been showing up in the scrap yards these past few years, well, it's been a fun ride finding the best used stuff for just about everything but the core body, engine block and tranny. I gave it a shiny new deep blue paint job, installed a thunderous sound system, and replaced the entire interior. Lots of time spent, lots of tinkering. It's fun!
