no offense...but 250 does not buy much in ac repairs, basically zip, suggesting that 250 will make it straight won't pass muster around here and merely shows a lack of saab understanding. old saab ac almost always dead ac. you need full evac and flush, leak check, flush, o-rings, hoses, evap valve and drier at a minimum and i would not trust a 175$ ac compressor for shi*. labor alone is almost 500. Once they get old enuff to go bad once they are BAD...parts corrode from the inside out, orings wont' seal on the surfaces etc, you can fix it and can be broke again in no time, esp witha 250$ repair. 1000$ for a reworked a/c is not out of line at all. 1500$ can disappear in a heartbeat. just ask around on this board how much others have paid for rebuilt a/c. i'd suggest fixing b4 selling if that is an issue. me??? i yanked mine out. imo saab ac is garbage and not even worth fixing. as to the price...subjective .vs. objective value are two totally different animals. i have no intention of selling my saabs so the added value from repairs stays with me. repaired saabs are saabs that were once broken and no one know anything about who repaired it for you, i lost a transmission because the p/o had it rebuilt and they overtorqued one bolt. a repaired saab can break just as fast an unrepaired one and i don't see you giving a 12,00 mile 12 month warranty on it.
