Driving as normal today and when I pressed the brake pedal it went almost to the floor... I pressed on it hard about 8 or 10 times and got somewhat of the pedal back in order to stop when needed.
I checked the brake fluid level in the master cylinder and it was not low. I checked for brake fluid leaks (stains) below it and at the brake booster. Did not see any indication of leaking.
Weird. I wiggled the master cylinder a bit. Pumped the brakes several times during the drive home. Within a few minutes the brakes were working as normal again (full pedal). Twenty minutes later just before arriving home the pedal would again go all the way to the floor. After stopping to get gas and driving the last 5 minutes to the house carefully and pumping the brake pedal 8 or 10 times before each stop the brakes recovered again and worked fine the rest of the way home.
Got any ideaz here? Is my master cylinder starting to fail? Its been about 9 years since last replacement. What should test next? Checked Bentley and performed the brake booster test - and it seems to work no problem.
Kinda puzzled here. Any advice appreciated.
