I didn't have to unbolt/loosen the alternator.
Benchbleeding the mc wasn't necessary. I installed the new mc and filled it with fluid, leaving the lines to it unhooked..away from the holes.
With the driver's window down and standing on the ground with my left foot, I covered the mc holes with my left hand fingers and worked the brake pedal with my right foot until fluid squirted behind my fingers.
Don't worry, you're not going to creat enough hydraulic pressure to inject fluid into your skin. You can use latex gloves if you want to further minimize fluid contact.
I then hooked up the brake lines to the mc and bled the rest of the brake system as normal.
Whatever you do, be careful with the plastic reservoir on top of the mc. It won't tolerate resting on it with your elbows or other tricks. And I've not been able to replace a cracked reservoir notwithstanding the availability of new O rings!
I gave up on Castrol LMA GT4 brake fluid on my 87 900T with Girling mc...the OEM turned the fluid black (after 200+K) and the first replacement Girling mc turned the fluid black in 13mos...conveniently one month after the warranty expired. The second replacement mc has worked fine for over three years on ATE blue or amber...you can change color every two years to make complete flushes indicated or just keep the same color and go by tint.
