If you get a replacement from a junkyard, get a couple and pick up the ones that look the newest. You can never tell what the inside of the bore is like until you open it up. And you don't want to do the job twice in rapid succession. When you bleed it, expect to go through at least 2 bottles of brake fluid to get all of the air bubbles out (BTDT). If the slave cylinder is full of crumbs & stuff, it may not bleed easily, so be prepared for that, too.
You can try bleeding your existing clutch hydraulics to see if that will help, but fresh, clean fluid may wash away some of the crud that's enhancing the seals.
Ashtan's situation is probably one where air has gotten into the system past the rear MC seal. In a lot of the ones I've seen (as recently as yesterday in my SPG), there is a buildup of rubber crumbs and goo in the space between the seals on the MC piston. This stuff makes it hard for the fluid between the MC and slave to get refreshed through holes in the piston behind the forward seal, and it sucks in air past the rear seal. If you rebuild or disassemble one for the heck of it, you'll be able to see what I'm talking about.
