Given that both the miserable DOT and beautiful ECE reflectors were slide-rule-engineered to reflect light from specific bulbs and bulb heights, it's hard to imagine you're going to improve on that with a hole saw, tape measure, epoxy, and off-shelf pencil lights. 'How it looks' is a matter of taste, so up to you. The faux 'euro' thing is kinda nauseating - tho I enjoy the 'as-SAAB-intended' look of the E-codes myself.
Now, if you engineer yourself a useful driving lamp (or aux high beam, perhaps) reflector and bulb into the (useless) parking lamp spots found on '84-'86ish cars (between DOT lamp and rad grill) - bro, I'm all ears as that'd be nice. But I'd have to give up the sweet E-codes. At any rate, have fun tinkering! I mean, Orville and Wilbur were cool bros.
