My father and I went out about 30 miles from my home to look at a mercedes 190e for my little sister, who needs a car now. When we left from there I started my car and the battery light stayed lit. It had done that once before when I started the car in quick succession about 3 times. But once i touched the gas, it faded out. This time I knew something was wrong, because it didnt go away. So I turned off the stereo didnt stand on the brakes at the lights. Ofcourse things like this only happen at night, when its mandatory that the headlights be used, so they had to stay. Everything seemed fine for about 20 miles. I doubted wether or not the car was actually broken. Then I heard a repetitive thumping noise. I had no clue what it was....but then i realized it was the subwoofer, I figured the amplifier started acting weird with the low voltage. Then the anti-lock brake light lit up, and the car started to hesitate with anything more than 1/4th throttle. I drove gentle and turned the lights off when I could...like sitting in traffic. I narrowly made it home, as I drove up the hill to get to my drive way...the car was mis-firing bad, and the headlights were worthless dim. As soon as I got in the drive way, and let off the accelerator, it died. I pulled the battery out and set it on the charger just now. Im not going to deal with the car untill tomorrow morning. Im guessing it will need a new alternator.

This is the 3rd car problem in 5 months that I have had with it. Im pretty set on running an autotrader add and selling it right now. Im a college student, and spend most of my time away from home...and tools...and Soverign Automotive. I was toying with the idea of a early 90's Benz with a 2.5 Turbo diesel. Either a 190d or 300d.

What could have caused my problem tonight? and please tell me the anti-lock warning was related.

Thanks
Austin
