I realize this is an old thread but I have the same problem in my 16 valve fuel injected 91 900. I was slowing down going to the supermarket when it started running rough. I am pretty sure it is missing on one cylinder at low RPM's Then when I speed up I feel the misfiring cylinder kick in and it runs smooth. I am going to check all the wiring and look for shorts. This is likely the problem although does anyone know how the car would run if I had a sticky valve?
This car also has an interesting intermittent running hot problem. When I have the heater core on it runs at normal temperature. If the heater core is off it heats up and the fans turn on. I know the valve to the heater core is wearing and malfunctioning because when the heater core gives heat it does so intermittently. The interesting part is when the heater core has fluid moving through it the temperature drops from hot to where it is supposed to be. I flushed the radiator and changed the thermostat. It worked for a short period then began acting up again. I am willing to bet it is the water pump. Any ideas on the first or second problem.
Thanks,
Steve
