Dash lights... Posted by Walt [Email] (#2707) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Walt) on Mon, 28 Jul 2003 06:22:25 In Reply to: Fetish for bright lights, jbrew, Sun, 27 Jul 2003 21:41:16 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Yup, dash light are dim....options:
1) A higher wattage bulb...will produce more light, but will also produce more heat, and warp the inst panel. Not recommended. 5W is too much.
2) Install indiglow white gauge faces from SR motorsports. A very nice product, and only about $60.
3) replace dash bulbs with LED's....here'a a previous post:
(sorry, dunno who wrote it)
Remove both instrument panel bulbs.
Remove the bulbs from the bases (the green/blue part).
Solder in an unltrabright LED, (standard green works well, white is also fine), with a 600 Ohm series resistor.
Refit the 'bulbs'. If they don't light first time, rotate them by 180degrees, since your new bulb is fussy about polarity.
You now have bulbs which will last virtually forever, are brighter than the originals, and consume 5% of the power.
