Bleeding brakes..again.

Before I bleed the brakes on my 87 SPG, I want to clarify some things. First, the clutch feels fine, and I don't have a pressure bleeder, so I want to only do the brakes. (Please don't try and convince me to do it, I'll do it later when I have a bleeder, but my brakes are getting dangerously spongy).
So, to bleed the brakes and put new fluid in, the resevoir must be emptied, which would mean the clutch would get air bubbles it in? I was told you can do the brakes alone, but I don't really get how to leave the clutch out of the procedure. Thanks.
