after a bit of measureing i concluded that there was no way a valve would be hitting the piston.. it was an inch and a half from the top of the stroke.. so i think thats pretty low right? also.. i got it past that point, but it hit another sticky spot... seems like half a cam rotation so is that a 360 or 180 degrees? then i hit the first one again.. but it seemed to be getting better.. but heard sort of a knocking sound when spinning past the sticky spot again.. so either i dented the piston with the valves (but timing still seems right on the mark) or there was a nick in the cylinder walls that the new rings are catching on... the head has a 92 casting date on it... so maybe it IS a NA 2.1 head? they are both so similar i dont really think it matters. Any opinions... I guess ill just keep spinning it and if i need a new pistons/valves so be it... if its just catching on the cylinder wall i think it will wear itself in by itself..
trying to get this done for SOC.. next time ill spin the assembly before completion!!
