Hey all... pretty bummed about this one,
Just installed the new Walbro pump (PN# 8980039a from eEuroparts.com)in my 1990 SPG. I also put in the external check valve into the supply line and removed the stock check valve from the return line as instructed here on TSN, as well as installed a new main fuel pump o-ring seal.
This was all done in hopes so the 'long-start' cranking issue would go away. My fuel pressure would drop to about 10 PSI (from 40ish PSI) after an hour if it was hot outside/the engine was hot.
Installed everything just as it was, put the key in the ignition (keeping my fingers crossed for it to start right up and act normally)...
Seems to be choking for gas as it tries to turn over. Much worse/longer than before. I had to hold the key for about 3 or 4 seconds until it fired up and idled at 1,300 - 1,400 RPMs, obviously way off normal.
This was one long day. One problem after another.
Can someone please give me some advice as of what would be wrong here? I really don't want to go back in and play with my fuel pump all over again.
Here is some information if it helps...
30# fuel injectors
Group 9 RRFR
8.5 Magnecor wires
NGK 7EV spark plugs
etc
Thanks in advance,
Taylor
