Would recommend looking at auxillary air bypass valve. When engine is cold it basically increases idle during a short warm up period by bypassing additional air intake around the throttle plate. Normally when cold you should see a slight increase in idle speed to about 1000 rpm but then it should drop down to 875. If the aux valve is stuck and you compensate for it by manually increasing the idle then you are doing what it is supposed to do when cold....but it does not help when you are warm (high idle). It may only require removing the two hoses off of it..using a flashlight through it see if the port is open when the engine is cold..remove the electrical connector and test the internal electrical heater with an ohm meter for continuity...and use Gum Out to spray out the intake dirt from the valve mechanism itself. Two things can cause the valve port to close...one is the engine heat, the other is the internal electric heater which is powered when you start the car and gives the mechanism a sort of time base to operate function.
