I tried to troubleshoot my cruise control. I don't know where it's failing, but following some instructions, I of course first checked the fuses. all are fine. It said to suck on the hose, so after cleaning it off, i did that. There is suction in the system, but what exactly is supposed to happen with suction? I had assumed the accellerator cable would pull, but it doesn't. Does that mean i've lost a coupling between the vac system and the accel?
If so, how do I get the huge foam thing under the dash out. I am talking about that beige thing that extends the entire width of the car. Is there ANY way to work behind the dash without taking that out? Am I even barking up the right tree?
I would really like to get my cruise working again, but I can't afford/justify the expense of having it professionally fixed.
Does the relay that's attached to the outside of the engine compartment via l-bracket have anything to do with the cruise? I noticed the contacts were pretty corroded, so i first wire-brushed them, then replaced the relay with a spare I had, but of course that made no difference.
I appreciate any help.
