set aside to put into it. At 4 bills I am sure you might have some expenses to get it road worthy and it may be more than a nickel or a dime; even if you do the work yourself the car will no doubt be in need of some key safety repair; front end work, wheel bearings, muffler, brakes, tranny or engine. Otherwise the 16v for a first car is a great choice. I have owned both and yes the turbo is FUN and fast but that makes it that much more likely to get into trouble. The 16 valve has plenty of get up for around town and on the highway makes a fine cruiser. As a side note I bought a $200 salvage 8 valve as a snow car and after putting in a weekend on ball joints and brakes it ran for over two years without a problem before the tranny went out (which I may have precipitated as it was so much fun to "rally" in the snow!! My 02 cents. best of luck!
