87 900s Not Starting - Has Spark

I have an 87 900s (195k) that is not starting.
How the problem started is stange, and before I go crazy checking I thought I would ask.
My wife has been complaining about the temperature gauge reading high. The car has a new (2 yrs) radiator and a new thermostat. The needle on the gauge jumps up and down, which to me could indicate the high reading is caused by something electrical rather than the car actually running hot. A resistance check at the temp sensor indicated temp normal.
While checking out the wiring/connections, I reached behind the instrument cluster (while car was running) and wiggled the connector. The needles for both gas and temp were affected by the wiggling, which I think has something to do with the problem.
I then shut the car off and contemplated what I wanted to do next. I decided to do nothing else today, but when I went to start it again, it wouldn't!! The car was running great before I wiggled the harness, and now it won't start.
I checked for spark at the plugs, and that is okay. What I do know is that the fuel pump is not turning on when I turn on the ignition, and that when I checked the spark, the plug was dry. The fuse for the pump is okay. I am at a loss to understand how wiggling the harness to the instrument cluster could cause this problem?
Could I have killed the LM?
Thanks,
Steve/NH
